We are a family owned business with sincere dedication to the finest quality products and service. Your satisfaction is our highest priority. We enjoy this business and we think of our suppliers, employees, dealers, representatives and banjo players as friends. When you call Deering Banjos you talk directly with the experts. In fact, you often get Greg or Janet Deering. Our banjo line consists of our regular production models and our custom banjos which are made by Greg Deering and our most skilled craftsmen. Our regular production models are sold through music stores and custom banjos are sold factory direct from The Custom Shop. If you want a banjo with no more than three custom options as listed on the back of the price list you can order it through a dealer. However, if you want a regular model with more than three custom options, or one of the banjos listed on the back of the price list under Custom Banjos or a custom feature not listed on our Custom Options list then you will need to order it factory direct and have it made in The Custom Shop.

You will find Deering dealers throughout the 50 states and around the world. So no matter where you live, we ensure that you get the service you need. If you can't find a Deering dealer nearby, call us. You have our personal assurance of quality and satisfaction. After twenty years in the banjo business, and having produced more than 8,000 banjos, we are still personally involved in making the instruments. We never loose sight of the fact that banjos are meant to be played. And that it will be your pride and joy.

Not all Deerings sound alike. We build a variety of banjos that will meet the different needs of players. We recommend that you try several different models, including our models with steel rims, bell bronze tone-rings, our Hartford banjo with the wood tone-ring, the Golden Era with the pre-war design and our electric banjos. You'll ford that Deering means playability and quality, and a variety of excellent tones.

All regular models are listed on the price list; however, this catalog does not show everything we make. For example, the Deluxe tenor, though not shown in this catalog, is made with similar features to the 5-string Deluxe. If you are wondering about the look of a left-handed, open-back, long neck, tenor or plectrum banjo which is not shown in this catalog, look at the comparable model in the 5 string section to see the design of the instrument.

For your protection against theft and to ensure immediate proof of ownership, four digits of the serial number are visible on the back of the peghead on each banjo. The full serial number is inside the resonator. When you purchase a Deering banjo and send in the warranty card you will receive a Gold Credit card style ownership/warranty card. This gold card is embossed with your name and the serial number of your new banjo for easy identification. Take your Gold Card with you to festivals or when traveling so that if your banjo is ever stolen you can easily prove it's yours.

We hope that you will choose a Deering and gain a lifetime of satisfaction in owning the finest.
